The Cleveland Jewish News is looking for freelance writers to cover the Columbus and Central Ohio area.
Candidates should have a minimum of one year of newspaper experience, including reporting hard news as well as feature stories and be able to write compelling, precise and accurate stories. Applicants should feel comfortable covering everything from synagogue news to community stories to political events to world affairs. Daytime, nighttime and weekend assignments are involved.
Candidates should have a familiar knowledge of the Central Ohio Jewish community, be a self-starter, work independently, be a team player, feel comfortable handling multiple assignments, have the ability to develop sources, adhere to rigorous deadlines, produce high-quality content and know AP style. You should be passionate about news and all that goes into developing a story for print and/or online. The ability to shoot creative and compelling photos and proficiency in social media etiquette and posting skills are required.
