The Bill of Rights Institute is seeking a freelance copy editor for its digital textbook, educational publications, newsletters, marketing materials, and ancillary documents. The subject matter is U.S. History, current events, and related topics meant to educate, engage, and inspire students and teachers in grades 8-12.
The successful candidate has experience using style guides, including the Associated Press Style Book, an eye for spelling, grammar, punctuation, and aesthetics, and the willingness to work with copy written by scholars, educators, contributors, and internal staff.
Ability to proofread content on websites. Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Education, or related area preferred. Prior experience as a copy editor, preferably in educational publishing or related field.
This opportunity is considered a part-time, long-term engagement (a year or more) and is not classified as a full-time regular position with benefits.
