Six Red Marbles is seeking writers and editors for an online high school game design course. The writing and editing team will develop instructional text, assessment items, and some student projects. This is an introductory course that provides students a broad foundation. The course will focus on developing students’ ability to recognize good game play mechanics and the steps necessary to produce a game.
Course concepts will be illustrated using examples from a variety of video and analog games. Proposed topics may include: the game experience, art/effects/story in gaming, basic game design, platforms and hardware, and the video game industry. Writing and editing is expected to begin in early August and will continue for approximately three months.
Candidates should have a demonstrated knowledge of the field of game design and an ability to create engaging online instruction at the high school level. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience and/or freelance writing experience appropriate to the course content. Applicants should be able to devote 20+ hours/week to the project.
