The Center for Responsive Schools (est. 1981) is launching a new imprint and is seeking Freelance Writers (and illustrators) to help develop a number of books aimed at students in grades kindergarten to eighth grade.
The new imprint will cover “human experience” topics on: interpersonal relationships; social and emotional skills; diverse experiences; and other concerns connected to the everyday life of elementary and middle school students.
The organization plans to focus on graphic novels, and eventually expand to publishing standard novels and nonfiction.
To apply, writers will need to submit a cover letter, a bio, three pitches for graphic novels, and 2-3 writing samples.
Compensation: writers are paid a competitive flat rate under a Work for Hire contract. Terms will be discussed with qualified candidates.
