NORC at the University of Chicago seeks a freelance editor to support the Health Research departments. This is an offsite position. The Editor will provide support across multiple proposal and project teams in the development of high quality proposals and project deliverables submitted to the federal government and other clients. Project deliverables may include research and evaluation reports, manuals, technical assistance guides, and manuscripts.
- Serving as technical/ substantive editor in the area of health on proposals and project deliverables for the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and other public and private funders.
- Editing technical proposals and project deliverables, focusing on improving readability by improving flow, eliminating redundancies, restructuring to improve transitions, clarifying exhibits and references, and weaving together text from multiple writers, and ensuring project deliverables are in accordance with style guide and client preferences.
- Copyediting full proposal and project deliverable documents, focusing on correcting errors in spelling, punctuation, grammar, and style; verifying that acronyms are defined; checking proper references of client names, position titles, etc.; and ensuring consistency in formatting.
