The staff needs wordsmiths who can write knowledgeably on subjects in a friendly, informal tone as well as simplify challenging topics into digestible content for different readerships. Writers should know how to use SEO to optimize their content and make it more shareable.
HigherEducation.com supplies writers with complete outlines and directions for each assignment. Word length for each article varies based on research and topic, but the writer must commit to producing at least 5K words weekly which may equate to one full-length article.
Writers may also receive special assignments to write white papers, guides, interviews, and school rankings.
Additional skills needed:
- Familiarity with Google Docs, AP style, basic HTML, and basic SEO writing best practices.
- A professional writing background with experience in conducting investigative research and culling factual information. (Writers who have journalistic backgrounds are preferred.)
