HealthNewsReview.org evaluates and grades health news stories and healthcare-related news releases (from government agencies, industry, academic medical centers, medical journals, etc.) every day. Our goal is to improve the public dialogue about heathcare interventions. But our blog – which can touch on broader issues in media messaging about health care – has always been the most popular feature on the site.
We are posting a position for a full time health care journalist who must write and edit specialized, high impact content – often on controversial topics – for publication on our internationally-acclaimed website. We have a small staff, so each full time editorial person is expected to provide strategic editorial advice to the Publisher and Managing Editor and help to plan new editorial content, new approaches, and new formats.
The health care journalist applicant must be knowledgeable about controversial areas in health care and in health care journalism, and able to address them with accuracy and with an authoritative voice.
The health care journalist will report directly to the managing editor of HealthNewsReview.org. If the successful candidate lives in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area, there may be an option to work onsite at the University of Minnesota. Otherwise the candidate may telecommute.
