Contently (est. 2000), a NYC-based media company and publishers of The Freelancer, offers freelance writers (and freelancers in general) the opportunity to collaborate with major brands on premium projects that pay competitive rates.
To get started, writers must set up a free portfolio showcasing their experience, expertise, work history, social media connections, and samples of work. It only takes 10-15 minutes to create. [ Create your portfolio now ]
To pair writers with new and existing clients, Contently uses a computer algorithm that scours through users’ portfolios and alerts them of all applicable candidates. The team then thoroughly reviews these portfolios to ensure a perfect match. Writers are notified via email when they are matched with a client.
Because Contently’s platform is a network of curated freelancers and not an open marketplace, the company only searches for talent when a new project arises.
The Freelancer, a website published by Contently, also periodically posts freelance gigs on behalf of clients as a way to identify writers with the right skills, expertise, and specialty. New gigs are posted at http://contently.net/category/find-work/. To be considered for any of these gigs, writers must have already set up their portfolio.
