Portland Monthly Magazine is seeking talented freelance writers who love to dig for facts for comprehensive survey stories that delight our readers because the information is grounded by sparkling and precise details.
One example: Please compile listings and backgrounds of local Portland firms that have been in businesses for over 100 years, enlivened by striking quotes and significant facts from the principals. Another example: Contact 30 individuals and ask them the same five questions about an issue that’s important to our readers.
Please email us with a CV, a short list of credits, and a single-page (double-spaced) excerpt of your most recent work to show contact info that shows your ability to use precise language, as well as your ability to put a unique, geographically-local spin on a subject.
Features in Portland Monthly run from 200 to 3,500 words. Feel free to pitch your ideas, too. We are looking for some new voices. We encourage new and emerging writers.
