Our client provides proofreading and marketing copy services for a variety of corporate clients. They’re looking to expand their pool of freelancers for one client in particular that brings in a large amount of manuscript editing. It’s a pretty even mix of fiction and nonfiction, running the gamut from fantasy epics to self-help guides to memoirs.
• Workload: It’s a big project. We need you to commit to at least two to four manuscripts per month, at an average of 50,000 words per manuscript.
• Pay: Pay is determined per word: .007 cents for a copyedit and .009 cents for a line edit. That means between $350 to $450 for a 50,000-word manuscript, depending on the service level.
• Frequency: This work will be on an ongoing basis–and volume is expected to increase significantly in the coming months. It will keep you busy!
• Style: This client requires adherence to The Chicago Manual of Style, 16th edition.
