We are seeking a skilled writer and editor to join our team on a part-time freelance basis, approximately 20 hours per week. This position will report to the Fisher Fund’s Public Affairs Director, and will work closely with the other members of the communications team. The Freelance Contributing Writer will work primarily with one of the Fisher Fund’s most successful grantees, KIPP (Knowledge Is Power Program), a national network of college-prep public charter schools.
Responsibilities: The Freelance Contributing Writer will support organizational efforts for KIPP public charter schools and other high-quality public charter schools around the country. Writing work will include preparing press releases and talking points, developing online and editorial content for KIPP leaders, and copy-editing letters and website content.
Location: The FFC team has offices in San Francisco and New York. Candidates should be based in either the New York metropolitan area or the San Francisco Bay Area. Work may be done remotely or in one of the Fisher Fund offices. The Freelance Contributing Writer must be willing to meet regularly in person with the Public Affairs Director and/or other FFC team members.
Time Commitment: The Freelance Contributing Writer will work on a flexible part-time schedule, approximately 20 hours per week, with some fluctuation in response to workload demands and team needs.
Compensation: This is a part-time contract position. Compensation is exclusively based on an hourly rate, commensurate with experience.
