Job Description:

Magoosh.com (est. 2009), a publisher of online test prep tools and study materials, regularly posts open positions to find Freelance Bloggers to contribute educational content to a handful of topic-specific study blogs. Because the company helps students ready themselves to pass popular exams like the GRE, GMAT, SAT, ACT, Praxis, and others, its blogs are another extension of helping students learn.

Freelance writers can check Magoosh’s Remote Job Section to identify open blogging positions. Currently, the company needs bloggers to write subject-specific content on GED, AP Calculus, and the CAT (Common Admission Test) exam.

Each job as its own unique set of requirements, but generally bloggers are required to develop educational articles supported by test prep tips and expert advice. A typical project consists of writing 50-100 articles, between 400-1500 words each. Topics are usually assigned, but bloggers often have the opportunity to pitch their own ideas. Another part of the job is working with the Blog Editor to ensure blog posts meet high editorial standards.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • A BA or BS degree or equivalent experience
  • A passion for teaching, especially standardized tests
  • Prior experience as a tutor or teacher
  • Familiarity of exam formats, content, question structures, and study strategies
  • Experience using WordPress

Magoosh allows freelance bloggers to work remotely from home.

Payment is $30/hour or from $25 to $75 per blog post, depending on difficulty of the topic.
