AlterNet, one of the largest online independent and progressive news publications in the US, with millions of monthly unique visitors, seeks talented and experienced news writers (part-time) & freelancers.
The news writing role comprises a mix of news summaries and short-form reported articles, on topics ranging from culture and consumer stories to breaking political news and economics stories. There is some opening for weekend writing roles. News writing shifts are a mix of office and telecommute. You must be able to come in to the NYC office.
AlterNet is also to expand its stable of talented and experienced freelance feature writers, essayists, and investigative reporters whose interests are in synch with our regular coverage (visit AlterNet.org if you aren’t familiar).
AlterNet pays competitively for well-written articles in the online publishing industry. Interested parties should send their resumes and clips and two or three story proposals that they think are a match of their writing interests and topics AlterNet might want to cover in the current news cycle.
