Freelance Work Freelance Writers Needed to Write for SmarterTravel Magazine
SmarterTravel (est. 1998), an online travel magazine to help consumers plan and enjoy their trips, is looking for freelance writers to contribute insightful vacation-planning tips, destination stories, and coverage of travel trends.
Freelance writers are needed to contribute content to the following:
Short- and long-form feature articles (including multi-page slideshows): the editors welcome a wide variety of travel topics, including trip planning strategies; saving money on tickets; suitcase packing tips; favorite local places to visit; unique travel experiences; travel gear reviews; activities or excursions to take; and so on. Writers can peruse the website to acquaint themselves with the diverse topics that interest the editors.
Destination pieces: usually in the form of theme-centered listicles or round-ups spotlighting various getaways (such as, “Europe’s Most Affordable Metropolitan Areas,” “Holiday Destinations that Will Blow Your Mind,” and “Spend A Day at These Family Beaches”).
Periodically, the editors will accept single destination stories, but such pieces warrant their own editorial focus based on trends.
Payment: $500 per feature story or slideshow; $100 to $250 for shorter pieces.
Freelance writers will need to pitch their story ideas to the editors.
